The European Union selects an international consortium led by Numergy as cloud provider

Numergy, founder and leader of the Cloud Team Alliance (CTA), is awarded a frame contract on behalf of the Cloud Team Alliance, to provide cloud services to the 56 entities of the European Union.

After a tender launched in December 2014 on the procurement of cloud computing services, the European Union choses five candidates, including the Cloud Team Alliance (CTA), an international consortium led by Numergy (France) and including Portugal Telecom (Portugal), Gigas (Spain) and Enter (Italy). The contract was signed in November 2015 and first services have already been ordered.

The decision to procure and use public cloud services to meet its own needs, is an innovative initiative for the European Union which centralizes the needs of the European Commission and its 33 Directorates-General.

Since late 2012, the Commission has specified its cloud infrastructure resources in terms of storage, compute and network capacity. The CTA consortium will provide efficient and secured IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) to the Commission and other European Union institutions. This will also enable them to locate and compute secured data, hosted in Europe and allow cloud interoperability across various European geographies. Therefore, the European Union entities will express their needs to the CTA consortium to choose the most adequate infrastructure and country.

Based on its experience and expertise, the CTA consortium is now positioned as a recognized leading provider within the European Union.
